We start every XI from three checkpoints — captain weight, salary budget and venue read — and only then look at player form. Skipping any of these collapses the team before the toss.
Pick notes are written before the toss and frozen until the playing XI is confirmed. We never trade a settled captain pick in the last ten minutes for a "hot tip" we can't verify.
Captains return 2× the player's points. Treat the captain slot as the single biggest decision in the team — not a formality at the end.

Rohit's points hinge on the first six overs. When MI bat first he averages 38 with a 170+ strike rate in the powerplay — a steady 2× captain return even when the innings slows. At Chepauk the surface turns slower and his value drops; we drop him from the captain slot in that fixture.
Kohli's role in the new RCB batting order is anchor on a chase. His dot-ball percentage drops in the death overs, so his points return is strongest in the middle overs when the run rate is 7–9. Pick him captain when RCB chase; pick him vice-captain when they bat first.
Death-over wickets are worth 4× the standard bowling points and a maiden over adds 4 more. If MI bowl first on a slow surface, Bumrah as captain can outscore most batsmen. Don't pick him captain on flat decks — economy points disappear.
